It illustrates how a childhood without of genuine warmth shapes a deeply fractured soul. The story follows Victor Eisenberg, a young Austrian nobleman, whose obsessive thirst for knowledge quickly evolves from an innocent ambition into a perilous form of hubris. To achieve his vision, he starts to view morality as an obstacle and empathy as an unnecessary flaw.
